Doggie dance...

Ok, you experts in canine behavior - why does Honey (& other dogs) paw at her bankie after I spread it out nice with her little pillow...and why does she go in circles while pawing her bankie into a messed up pile. It this instinctual behavior from centuries ago when a dog maybe lived in a cave and dug a depression in the dirt to sleep in? :?:

Yes, exactly. To make the earth softer, then it's easier to warm him.

But we do that too, don't we? At least I do. Moulding my pillow into just the right shape ... and do you have your blanket straight as a board on top of you? :D We also muddle our nicely made beds up - it's more comfy that way :wink:

Btw, here the dogs dig holes in the earth to lie in because the earth beneath the surface is cooler. :wink:

I think it was more for making a bed in forest litter.
