Need advice for choosing a kitten

Hello! We have a friendly mini schnauzer inside and would like to adopt a kitten that will get along with or at least tolerate dogs. We will probably get a young kitten, but are there any suggestions on what type (if that is a possibility) and any specific features/behaviors we should look for when choosing? Thanks in advance
