Proteus infestion...any ideas?

There are several oral rinses available for pets, mainly for dental problems.

But, the vet needs to get a better handle on whatever this "infection" is, and treat it appropriately...she needs to refer to a university or diagnostic lab for someone more experienced and able to help with interpretation of the results in order to achieve an appropriate treatment approach.

For what reason did you find it necessary to edit/delete your posts? This thread may have helped someone else at some point in time.

We tried to help based on available information you provided, but we are extremely limited since we cannot examine your dog, nor know exactly everything behind the scenes with your vet's diagnosis/plan of action for treatment. The key point here, if the condition has persisted for some time, then the most prudent and appropriate thing to do is seek help from a vet more experienced, your primary vet is obligated to refer you.
