My Grandma's cat is going in for surgery tomorrow. The other night I noticed something on her side and it looked like a scrape. She took her to the vet and they said it is a skin tumor and are performing surgery on the cat tomorrow. I guess she had irritated it or scratched it and that is what made it look like she scraped it on something.
Has anyone's cat had a skin tumor? If so, was surgery successful?

Only a biopsy can determine what it is, and how it should be treated. There are skin "lypomas" that are not true tumors, but are fat tissues and are not malignant. But, any lumps or bumps, if large in diameter should be removed and biopsied to determine if it is a malignant or benign growth, only a biopsy can determine that. Talk to the vet who is performing the surgery, he is the only one who can tell you what it is, and what to expect, how to treat, etc.
