Update on my cat with constipation

Post by Luv my kitty »

I called my vet about my kitty and told him I was picking her up today.
he said he was a little more hopeful, that her bladder seemed to be working now. He wanted me to bring her some wet food she liked.

I went to see her and she was in terrible shape. She was in a lot of pain and her stomach was spastic. I told one vet and he said her vet would be out of surgery soon and would see her. He then sent a girl in to take her back to her pen. I told the girl to get her something for pain from the vet when he came out. She said she would.

I went home and my husband said "let's go get her."
I went back to get her.
I waited about an hour and the vet finally came out and motioned me in.

He said she was in respiratory arrest and he had been working on her.
He said evidently her bladder had burst.
I told him to let her go and not try to revive her. She was in awful pain and I couldn't stand to see her suffer anymore.

I guess her problem was in her spine although I didn't see anything wrong with her spine on the x-rays.
Of course it doesn't show the nerves.

I know that he should have cautherized her and taken away the pressure in her bladder.
I'm afraid I didn't follow up on her like I should have.

If you have a pet in the hospital, be sure you keep checking and find out what they are doing. And don't let them stay in a place where they are too busy to pay attention to the animals.

I will never forget the look in her eyes when the girl started to take her back to her pen. They were real wide and she looked straight at me as if to say, "you're not leaving me again are you?"

I have cried for two days and am sick over this. I feel responsible for not doing what I should have and gotten her out of there sooner.

Luv my kitty, I am so very sorry to learn of this, my heart breaks for you.

I do not understand how any of this happened, or what transpired at the hospital, but if ever you are in doubt about anything regarding the care, comfort, and well being of your pets, do not hesitate to see a new vet promptly.

Without further diagnostics, it may have been near impossible to determine what was the cause....my guess would have been some sort of trauma, but additional diagnostics would have been needed to determine the source/cause.

I'm so sorry....(((HUGS)))
