I thought about that...hahaha...we are hoping to find the owner or at least a permanent home for this cute little guy...he is so very loveable...he never stops purrring and rubbing and looking for loving...it does feel weird to snuggle him on his back in your arms like a baby because his stub does not move at all...it is just there...straight up and solid...so it does not curl down like a cat's tail would do...

Then we have a little grey tiger striped girl that my 15 year old son went and picked up for someone who called...but he did not get a name or number and she has not called back yet...

I am going to make up flyers for each one and take them to the emergency vet I use in the city...maybe I will have better luck finding them good homes in a bigger city...and the people who take their animals to this place really care about their animals, so I know they would be going to good homes...around here it is a farming community and farming mentality when it comes to animals...cats and dogs especially...

My cat, Honey, has a stub tail, about 2 inches long with a little offshoot to the left at the end. She moves it around, just like it was a long tail. It's too funny, especially when she's irritated. It just flaps up and down. Interesting that your kitties stub doesn't move. Maybe because it's shorter?

that could be...I don't know...the vet said it does not look like it was taken off....it looks like a normal end of a tail...just short and very rigid...

She may have been born with the bones of the tail fused. We had a kitten like that at the shelter once, with a normal sized tail. She had a great deal of trouble because the long straight tail kept getting in the way. The kitten had other problems too and had to be euthanized.

Well...Stubby went to a new home a few minutes ago...I am sad but happy...

An older friend who has been working on the garden with me called and asked if we had any, because their calico lost her companion (I am not sure how and did not ask)...I told him we had a few cats/kittens to find good homes for, so he stopped by...

He is a retired doctor and his wife has MS but they still get out and about as much as possible...he makes sure she does not sit around feeling sorry for herself!...

I know Stubby will be well loved...I just am a bit concerned because they live on a farm, and he said he wants a male, but he also said he must have a short haired cat because of the limited housekeeping that his wife is still able to do...I told him I only keep them indoors and he has not been outside since I brought him inside...
But I am thinking he wants to add more cats to his farm...but...I just have to pray for the best for Stubby in his new home...and I need to stop being so critical of everything about everyone because then I would never find homes for any of these babies...

He did come in and go right to Stubby laying on the couch and picked him up and snuggled him to his chest and was handling him very gently...then he asked if Stubby purrrrs because he had not started to purrrr yet...I took him and he began to purrr so I gave him back purrring and then the man smiled and said he liked him and would take him home...he kept rubbing his belly and under his chin...

He brought a box along to take him home in...Stubby barely fit into it, so I am glad it was a short trip...

I need to just believe that they will give him a good home and lots of loving...
Do I sound like I am trying to still convince myself? :?

Tambrey, might I suggest spending some time educating your potential adopters? It only takes a few moments to explain the outdoor hazards, many pet owners don't even realize the hazards because they don't think about them. If you calmly approach the subject and give examples of the most common outdoor hazards to cats, some people may stop to think. Not that you can stop them from letting them outdoors once they are out of your care, but you just might reach these people enough to convince them that indoor living is best, particularly since you've housetrained them, since they are already adapted to indoor safety, and since you gave them their start in life. People need to think about that...for every person you educate, that person can go on to educate others.

That is what I did with him...explained that the cats are not let out once they are brought in, so are now adapted to indoor life...are litterbox trained and so forth...but as you said...all I can do is let them know...it is thier ultimate decision, and I just hope he makes the right decision for Stubby...and does not let him outside...or if he does...that it is only when he and his wife go for a walk or in a restricted area near the house...

but I also know the people around here...especially farmers (even if they are also doctors)...that is what makes it so hard for me to let them go...I fear that the cats will be let out...and something will happen to them...so I say alot of prayers!
