A prayer for Cisco, please

Post by Ash »

Please send a prayer for Cisco, a nine year old dog who was euthanized yesterday because he wasn't deemed safe around the baby nor adoptable.

Nor did his owner want to spend money on a training academy or spend more time and money looking for a new home for him.

His last weeks he spent locked away, his owner impatient and angry with him ...

I'm so sad. He deserved better.

Safe journey, sweet Cisco! May you be happy wherever you are now!

You know, it is times like this that I have to admit that I am an incredibly stupid woman. Why do I do this to myself? I just read what you posted about Cisco and it was like a red hot knife being plunged into my heart. It is honestly like a physical pain to me so I don't know why I come to places like this but for some reason I have to know. My problem is that pain is like a flash because without even thinking he changes to red hot rage!
At nine years old this dog would be considered a senior. You didn't say if you knew if they had raised this dog and I don't really care, it doesn't matter to me if they had owned him for only nine days, nothing gave them the right to destroy this precious animal tossed out like so much trash because after the baby came the dog became an inconvenience. In my opinion if they had raised and trained him correctly they would have had nothing to worry about.
A problem for me is to question how someone can have the title of Doctor after their name yet have no problem taking a healthy, vibrant animal and destroy it simply because someone says they no longer want it. I know I have some pretty strange ideas about animals and have been tagged as a opinionated fanatic by many people but it works for me and I will never have to try to sleep with a picture of an animal that trusted me as only an animal can do and I used that trust to walk him to his death. I am sure that Cisco still felt safe as his heart reached that last little beat because he didn't realize how he had been betrayed. Maybe he didn't experience any fear because he went to sleep patiently waiting for them to come pick him up so he could go home. I have to believe that oterwise it would be unbearable.
