xylitol

A friend says she is going to use xylitol to help her osteoporosis. I cautioned that xylitol is poisonous for dogs. When I read the info for dog complications with xylitol, I wonder why these problems do not show up in people. Anyone know more about the effects on people versus dogs?

This is one of the articles that I have read. It seems that the diet foods, gums, candies with xylitol can kill the dogs.
