Finished the class portion of the seminar today. It was wonderful. Discussed the direction that shelters should be going in the 21st century, exotic pet laws and control, the need for ACOs to be commissioned with at least one going to Police Officer Service Training. Safety in the field and basic techniques with field equipment and new types of equipment. Recieve a copy of a Tufts research paper where they found that the escuses that people give when giving up dogs are not the real ones. (Big Surprise!) They found out that most people give up dogs for behavioral reasons, but are afraid to report that as they think it will mean that the dogs will be put down sooner. What was really surprising is that many agonize over 8 months before giving up the dog, but do not seek professional help with the behavior problemss! Many would keep their pets if they did have help, but usually expect it to cost too much money.
Got home kinda late today, and there were some Accidents from the dogs today. We cannot blame them, as we certainly cannot hold it for 12 hours straight. Let them outside and picked up the messes inside. Fed the dogs then let them out again for a good long time tonight. They needed that after being cooped up inside all day. I took pics while Cheryl pooper scooped the yard. (Taking pictures exempts me from picking up poop in the long grass, which will be cut tomorrow.)
First some pics I took to disturb the dogs while snoozing on the sofa yesterday evening.
Bernie says, "I was just dozing off when you flashed that thing in my face the first time, now you blind me when I open my eyes. Sheesh, I need to eat that thing to keep you from doing that!"
Ebony agrees with Bernie.
Mr Prince suits actions to thoughts, but is foiled in his attempt to eat the camera.
Here are the pictures I took as they roamed the yard this evening after doing their duties. Notice Cheryl in the background with the pooper scooper! Also notice Bernie getting ready to roll in something in the background.
Hmm interesting smells here!
Sweet Pea rolls in the spot that Bernie did.
Followed by Ivory. I didn't see anyone else rolling there. Now where is the doggy deoderant spray. We are too tired to do doggy baths tonight!
Ginger doing a yard inspection round. She went all around the yard and in the allies checking everything out!
After a while I start noticing signs of fatique among the dogs. I also notice that Coco is almost lost in the grass.
They start heading toward the door.
Apache has stopped walking and is supine.
Mr Dawg has the same idea, only in a cooler spot.
I start heading for the door and Sweet Pea jumps up eager to back inside.
Ebony needs a special invitation to get up and go inside.
Finally two pictures to show why the 3 second rule does not apply at our house.
As you can see, things dropped would not make it 3 seconds, or 3 nanoseconds for that matter!
