Help! My dogs are being attacked!

Post by Marty »

There is a mockingbird nest in the azalea bush right outside the doggy door, and Momma bird keeps divebombing my dogs when they go out! Even if they go out the patio door, it's too close.

Could you hang a net horizontically underneath the nest? Or a bed sheet or old curtain maybe. She's obviously wary of the dogs, if she can't see them she might stop attacking them. It also protects the young in case they attempt to fly and fall down - that way they fall into the net/sheet only.

We used to put mosquito nets under birds nests so that our cats would climb up to get the young (back then when they were still outdoor cats). The parents had no trouble to figure out how to approach the nest from the top rather than from below, in case your wondering.

but if they stop bombarding your dogs then you may be the next target....they are tenacious critters but eventually they get use to you and the dog which by that time you take a nother path..you could also walk out with an umbrella to give the neighbors something to talk about
