Re: Introducing Sammie
He looks like a great dog and has adjusted so well into your family. What a sweet little guy........it's hard to believe that his old family could just say goodbye to him like that.
Re: Introducing Sammie
He's very cute! I especially love the belly rub pic!
Re: Introducing Sammie
What a wonderful week you folks have had! I love the story and the pics - all so sweet. Which kitty is that nosing into the belly rub shot? Looks like it's saying, "Wait! What IS this? A d-o-g no bigger than a cat, getting all this attention! Hmmm - guess I better be friends with it anyhow!"

that is Cuddles in that picture...she has been aloof for about 3 years now...Mom found her half frozen under a lilac shrub at her place, and brought her here...and it has taken forever for her to come around...and now we can hardly get her off of our laps!...Cuddles almost reminds me of one of those munchkin cats...short stubby legs and tiny little feet...I think the dogs are bigger than her even!!
Tonight, DH did not get a pic in time...but I had Sammie laying alongside my head, because I was using "his" pillow to lay on...then I had Sophia stretched out across my belly, and them our cat Gump came and laid on my chest in between them!!...hahaha

Here is one more pic if Cuddles, Sammie and Sophia "grazing" in our friend's backyard...this is the same day they were all introduced to each other

Aha, Someone else with dogs who think they are cows!
Re: Introducing Sammie
oh yes...and there was one spot in the yard that they all kept insisting on rolling in...one after the other...the owner of Cuddles even got a shovel to dig a bit to see if he could find the source (one other time it had been rabbit droppings that his dog, Cuddles had discovered as a great source of pleasure! ) but we never did find what was so fascinating about that particular spot in the yard...
However, they did take numerous turns marking another spot in the yard...as soon as Sophia went, then Cuddles had to, then along came Sammie to leave his mark on theirs...a little while later it started all over again...good thing that spot was off in a corner of the yard and not easily seen, because I am sure it is yellowed by now!!
Sammie got all excited this afternoon when he heard a car door, he jumped into the chair to look out the window, saw my mother coming up the walk with Sophia and he ran whining and jumping at the door to greet them He and Sophia wore each other out this afternoon!!!

It's amazing your mom found Sophia at the same time you found Sammie, and the two instantly loved each other. It's like a love story.
Re: Introducing Sammie
yes it is...especially since they are both daschshunds and they are so hard to come by anyways...unless you want to pay quite a bit...and for us to also get both of them for FREE is really great!
