Two Cats at Vet's Office

Post by Tambrey »

I do not know their names...I was just there to check on my Majik, who was neutered today, and there are two cats in kennels there who got treated with the wrong chemical by their owner...right now they are having seizures and their entire bodies are trembling...they look sooo scared...I asked about them because I had never seen cats react like that to coming from anethesia, and the vet tech did not say what they got, only a wrong chemical and they are doing what they can for them...but the look on her face was not too promising :(

Please pray that these two kitties either be healed soon or released from the terror and pain they are most likely feeling right now...

I went to get Majik and asked the vet about these two kitties...he said this morning he would not bed 5 cents on the orange tabby, but that one seems like it might pull through...but the gray fluffy one was still trembling quite a bit...and he says he does not hold out much hope for that one...

The owners called him at 6:00 this morning, after applying a flea medicine from WalMart...the vet said the couple is now fighting and blaming each other, but they are both at fault...one bought the flea medicine and the other applied and neither read the directions...and they applied a premathryn based flea medicine for a 33 POUND DOG!!...The vet said they each got 6 times the lethal dose for a cat...and he has been doing what he could, after they finally found the package and he knew what he was dealing with...but he is not holding his breath on either one...

Please continue to pray for these two babies...

This makes me mad! But I also feel for the owners. They are probably devastated.

Praying for them! Poor sweeties :(

I have been warning about this for years....never never never apply dog products on cats, and never never never listen to anyone who says it's ok to do so (this happens way too often on the net). I hope the owners have learned a lesson.

I hope it wasn't Hartz, their products are known to cause various adverse reactions, including death and particularly in cats. ALL permethrin based flea and tick products are potentially lethal to cats, they ought to be banned. But of course, the EPA has been sitting on their duffs for years and allows to be strongholded by companies like Hartz, etc

The babies are in my prayers, Tambrey, if they receive agressive treatment, they may in fact make it, I'm pulling for them.....

I asked about these two at the vet's today, they said they made it :)

The owners got them into the clinic in time to be able to save them!! But I hope they also learned a valuable lesson!!

Oh my God! That is so good to hear! :sunny:

Thanks for updating this. Did you meet the owners? I bet they'll be much more careful in future.
