Am I Boring Him?

Brutus is an 11 yr. old mixed breed, very large cat. He's extremely lovable but he does something that I can't find an answer to no matter how I've tried. He'll meow to get our attention and then as soon as we talk to him, he yawns. He yawns when we speak to him first, as well. Anyone notice this with their feline friend? Anyone have a reason for this?

Oh, yes. Yawning and closing the eyes. Both are, as I understand them, signs of relaxation and trust. A way to say "I trust you, I feel good with you, see I even yawn and close my eyes, you pose no threat to me".
