prowling neighborhood tom spraying my house

Post by Molli »

This is such a helpful group - thanks for all of your help so far. I have 2 indoor only kitties, 1 male 1 female, and both are spayed/neutered. There is a prowling Tom in my neighborhood who has decided to stroll through my backyard and spray at my patio screen doors. And now that summer is here, I like to keep the sliding doors open with the screens closed so my kitties can watch birds and smell the fresh air. He has been by every day now for the last week, and it really upsets my cats. I have washed the screen and window, but is there something I can spray around the house that will turn him off? I don't want to hurt him, just discourage him.

you should also get some Nature's MIracle for cats or Petastic from your local Petsmart or Petco...
the enzymes in these cleansers break down and neutralize any lingering urine/spray odors...because even though you are washing it away, if you do not use an enzyme to break it down, a lingering odor will remain and he will continue to come around...

Best of luck...I am dealing with this trouble with ferals outside spraying my front porch

I did buy a product at PetSmart or Pet Supplies Plus, it was a cat deterrant, granules you sprinkle on the area that repel the cat from coming around. Cat repellant emits an unattractive odor that does not stimulate the normal behavior of cats. It prompts them to go elsewhere to carry on with their normal activities. A neighbor's cat kept coming into my fron yard and using the bathroom, I used this and he did not come back anymore. They make deterrant sprays, too. There is also a product called "No Mark" that PetSmart sells that is supposed to prevent re-marking.

I've also used this brand to deter racoons and possums from my yard-it works wonders! I looked it up and they also make a cat formula:
