Heartworms and heat
A friend of mine who is a dog breeder and trainer said that in India dogs don't get heartworms because it is too hot here. Could that be true?

Mosquitos are the vector for heartworm, so if you have mosquitos, then the area may be prevalent for hearworm. Hot and humid areas, and areas aound bodies of water are prime examples of mosquito infestation.
You can ask your vet if she has heard of hearworm cases diagnosed in the area and/or if she has treated any cases.

We have mosquitos a plenty here.
