inappropriate urination
inappropriate urination
Hi. I have a 4 1/2 year old neutered male cat. He seems perfectly healthy except for a couple of incidents of urinating around the house. It seems to be only on misplaced items on the floor, in particular plastic shopping bags. At first, I thought he wanted a neat and orderly house , but now I'm wondering if he's just acquired a bad habit. Apart from a vet's visit, which I am planning, anyone have any other suggestions? Also, he seems to have spring fever and has tried to get out on several occasions. He meows behind the door. He is strictly a house cat (Siamese mix). THanks.
Re: inappropriate urination
Urinating in inappropriate places can be a sign of urinary tract infections, so better have that vet appointment asap.

The misplaced items on the floor.......try not to displace them
Seriously, when unusual or personal items are laying on the floor, they are prime targets for any cat to urinate on. It is mainly a territorial issue in most if not all cats.
As for meowing at the door, perhaps there is a stray or two that frequent your yard, have marked areas near your door, and your kitty is responding to the scents. In any event, make sure your cat does not escape through an open door, and instruct family members/guests to be extremely watchful and careful not to let kitty out when the door is open.
Please get your kitty seen by your vet immediately for an exam and urinalysis, you want to ensure your kitty is not or has not already developed a urinary tract infection that may require treatment.

Re: inappropriate urination
guess what three letters U-T-I or just being evil and wanting more attention cause my cat did that too we thought it was a UTI so we took him to the vet la la la guess what no UTI just doing it to get more attention!! so maybe just give he more attention if it doesn't work go to the vet there really easy to cure
Re: inappropriate urination
I would suggest a vet visit FIRST to RULE OUT a UTI...you do not know if it is or not until the vet determines this...and cats are NOT animals to let you know when they are in pain...
Have you ever had a UTI...yes they are easy to cure but in the meantime...it HURTS!!
PLEASE...DO NOT WAIT to take your cat to the vet to determine what is wrong...for your own piece of mind as well as your cat's well-being and health
