Constipation symptom

My dog keeps licking his butt, is that a sign for constipation?

It could be anal glands. However, food allergies could cause anal itching also. If there is an unpleasant odor associated, I'd definitely bring her in to have the glands expressed.

anal glands were the first I thought of as well...the vet might have to express them...and if it is a recurring thing, you might ask the vet to show you how, if you are comfortable doing that...

it also could be flea bite itch, probably anal glands but the anal area is a prime spot for fleas to hang ou,,the scooty in and out to fast to really be sure...could also be from tape worms but i kinda agree that anal glands be the culprit..but don;t be surprised if there is another cause
