Food to Help Cat Gain Weight

Post by csonsini »

I posted a few days ago about my cat, Chester, losing weight. Well, I've
been kind of "force feeding" him - that is, putting a bowl of wet food in front of him every few hours (away from the other cats) and he's been eating really well. In fact, he's gained 2 ounces this week.
So, I'm interested in finding a food that will help him gain a little weight.
The vet said that she'd like to see him top 11 lbs (he's at 10lbs, 3oz right now - up from 10lbs 1.3oz last Friday). Can anyone suggest anything?
Thanks

Did you read the responses to your last thread? Unfortunately, without answers to those questions/suggestions, it would be difficult to offer more. You need to discuss the diet with your vet, both the current diet and a possible change to something more appropriate for his particular needs. I strongly suggest retesting thyroid function as well.

The fact that he gained weight could be a sign that you're on the right track with feeding him more frequently and in an undisturbed space. As I said in my reply to your first thread, some cats are very sensitive to other cats and feel intimidated and then don't eat enough. This might be the case with your Chester. Also, he might be the type of cat who likes to eat small portions several times a day. Some cats gobble, some cats nibble.

So, do as Traci says, and also keep up your new feeding routine.

Good luck!
