Any ideas as to the breed. She has baby teeth still.

Re: Lost Dog
She looks like a wire-haired terrier.
Since she does have a recent spay incision, would call all vets in the area, give description of dog and see if they can lead you to the owner. Would also check for a microchip, and of course, place ad in newspaper (with "recent spay incision" included in the ad.

Re: Lost Dog
My mother had a dog at her place for a couple of days...she called the vet to let them know, and that the dog had stitches down her back...
The vet was able to contact the owners, because of the stitches and they had done the surgery...
The dog had run out the door when it opened...they just lived across the road from my mom, but about a mile away due to farmland..
I hope you can find her family...she sure is a cutie!

Re: Lost Dog
We have already contacted all the vets in St. John Parish(4), St. James Parish (3) and St. Charles Parishe (4). Unfortunately there are too many vets in Jefferson, St. Tammany and Orleans parishes to call. We do a standard microchip scan on all dogs coming in to the shelter. This dog does not have a microchip. It does have a collar, but no tags or name. ....
Re: Lost Dog
Hey, Skeptic, was wondering how you are. Such a cute dog- someone's heart must be breaking missing her...hope you find the owner.
Re: Lost Dog
I'm sure if a family cared enough for her to have her spayed they will be looking for her. Look out for flyers, and put some up yourself. The newspaper ad is a good idea too. Good luck! Lucky she found you!
Re: Lost Dog
Most newspapers allow you to put a lost and found ad in the paper for free, but you may need to call them and extend it for a few more days. It's a good idea to get it done right away since the paper may not be able to get it in for a couple days. An owner who is looking for the dog would most suredly check the paper and/or the shelter...especially since they cared enough to spay her....

She's so adorable.........and she looks really clean.
Re: Lost Dog
This little dog keeps coming into my mind. Like MomPaws, I fear someone's heart is breaking over the loss. LaPlace being a major crossroads, one can imagine people stopping for a break at a Micky D's or service station, and the dog getting away from them... As you know better than I, with many people it simply does not occur to check shelters...
Do you have access to a color printer? Maybe blow-ups of the pics could be put up in various shops there in the neighborhood where she was found.
The pup looks very adoptable, but it would be sad to have another family adopt her as permanent pet, and then find the original owners. Before that happens, if you cannot keep her with your krew or find other temporary fosters, PM me, OK?

UPDATE!!!!!
THe owner came and got her dog. Did not know that there was a Shelter in LaPlace. Saw a picture we had posted on a bulletin board (sans Info other than the shelter number) and called. Gave all the details including the name of the vet that spayed April. .... Was very ecstatic when she picked April up and even had her Microchipped for ID. Now for the kicker -- She lives one block from Cheryl and I. ........
