My 17 year old cat Burbank had a hematoma on both ears -different times. I had both of them drained. My vet informed me that if the hematoma ruptures and the contents are infected it could cause serious problems VERY quickly-even death. It was well worth the cost. Plus, once the hematoma is gone it is impossible for it to resurface because of scar tissue that will form. One side effect is that Burb's ear flops down like a dog's on one side but I just tell him it gives him charachter! :D

Ask the vet about a payment plan- maybe 1/2 now and 1/2 next paycheck.

They can't simply not pay you because they fired the person who was responsible for the pay checks. At least they should give you an advance. Put your foot down! Tell them your cat is ill and needs a vet.

I agree with Traci on this one a hemotouma is a very painful thing for a cat to endure. She is also right in the fact that cats dont show a lot of emotion when it comes to pain. PLEASE talk to your vet about some type of payment arrangement to have this problem fixed AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. If it goes on much longer then it can be much worse if it gets infected or God for bid is already, the infection could enter the blood stream and your Clapy could die an even much more painful death that could have been prevented with simply asking for the help. PLEASE hear our plees. I have been through money problems myself before and as a matter of fact when this happened to my Alice i had to ask my boyfriends mother for the money for the vet bill to help my cat. So swollow your pride and ask anyone and everyone for help. Most vets will make some type of payment arrangments with you because thay hate seeing anyones pets in pain thats what they dedicated their lives to. Remeber that. :P
