My foster kitten didn't make it :-(

Post by Tina B and crew »

He had developed an abcess at the his umbilical and that in turn developed into peritonitis. He was fine on Thursday morning and bloated to twice his size on Thursday evening when I went in to feed him is early evening meal. It was apparent that he was extremely sick. I rushed him to the vet, holding him in my arms the whole way...a few times I though he had left me, but then he'd move his little head and look at me...broke my heart. The vet took him in immediately and after assessing him felt it was best to euthanize since he was in such bad shape...I don't think he would have made it even with aggressive treatment. It never gets easier to lose one...

Rest easy little Sparkplug

I'm sorry Tina and wish Sparkplug a sweet and gentle journey. I still cry over losing Simba sometimes but find comfort in knowing he is happy over The Bridge.

Thanks everyone...it was tough losing that one...he was a ray of sunshine in the midst of some dark times here. My DH found him the very day that I learned Jessica Lunsford had been murdered...I was terribly upset over that and the kitten gave me life to nurture in the midst of it..now he's gone. It seems death has been a central theme in my life this year. I'll be OK though...there will always be other kittens...
