Neighbor found 2 kittens in his garage
One was dead but the other one seems pretty hearty. I am pretty sure it has anemia, it was cold to touch and the pink paw pads, gums and part of it's nose were almost white. I combed tons of fleas out and then took it to the vet's office. They are going to give it a thorough checking, fluids if it needs and and a transfusion if it's too anemic. Then I shall foster it.
I have learned that one must really watch what they wish for. I was organizing my digital photos the other day and came across my foster kitten pics...I stated to my dear hubby how I missed having kittens around. God listens, he really does.

Re: Neighbor found 2 kittens in his garage
I haven't gotten a call back from them yet...it's the weekend, they are an emergency vet...and their people who run the foster program won't be in until Monday so I may not hear back until then. On the other hand the kitten may not have made it...the sibling was dead and this one was awfully cold to the touch...he was crying quite heartily but I am sure he had an awful case of flea induced anemia...his pink was white
We shall see....

Re: Neighbor found 2 kittens in his garage
Reminds me when a friend of mine had a cat who adopted her gagage and had kittens there, actually, sister cats did...
The one decided to have the kittens on the hood of an old truck that was being restored...my friend ran a daycare, and the kids were inside and she went out to check and discovered the mom in labor there...so she waited til I got there to watch and make sure no babies fell off until we could get mom safely moved...
One kitten rolled out of reach while she was birthing another, so I carefully, with the tarp she was laying on, rolled it back to her, then was looking around for things to tuck under the tarp to make a "wall'...I reached down for something, and it was wet and cold...a kitten!!...she "Dropped' her first one on the floor before getting to the truck and just left it there...it was still in its membrane, and cold, but a paw moved...I cleared its face and gently blew into it...began rubbing its body to stimulate it, and when she came back out, I showed her this baby...my friend is...well endowed (I am not as blessed) and she immediately took the baby and shoved it between her boobs!! She sent my son in to microwave a dishtowel and bring it back, and we wrapped the baby in that.,..by now he was making noises, so we tried to give him back to mom, but she did not want him...
We went, kitten in bra, to the pet store to get replacement formula, and she began to jump around because little claws were getting to her...hahaha...so she pulled out this newborn in the middle of the store...everyone was sooo awwwwed by him...
We got him home, and in the meantime, her husband had taken the momma and others into the kitchen in a box...they were all nursing, so we tried one last time...she found a distinguishing mark on this one, and she pulled the largest kitten from a nipple and nuzzled our Braveheart up to it...he latched on, had trouble nursing at first, but then got the hang of it...she moved other kittens in around him so he would get their scent, and soon enough mom was cleaning him along with the rest...
We still kept an eye on him, and the others, to suppliment if needed, but they were find...
Braveheart is now a HUGE beautiful gray cat

Re: Neighbor found 2 kittens in his garage
awww...that's a cute story!!
I'm not sure where the mother of these were, or who it is. In this case I felt it was better to take the kitten and foster it rather than let it become feral like some of them around here.
I picked him up yesterday...I think they gave him a transfusion, he has a red mark on his leg that looks like it might be where the needle went (I was in a bum mood yesterday and didn't think to ask). He's all pink and warm now...and does he have a set of lungs!!
Not sure what I am going to name him yet...[/url]

No, not into racing...but a garage/car related name might come to me at some time My neighbors garage however is full of nothing but junk (and it's a 6 car garage I might add...they were lucky to find this little tyke) I like Pirate too...will let you all know what I decide.
No, he will not remain in my house. In fact I know someone who's little girl wanted a kitten for Christmas and after talking with her mom I convinced her that Christmas was not a good time to adopt a kitten...so she said she may get her a kitten for her birthday in May. He should be ready to adopt in May...so I do have one lead on a home. I'm a kitty saturation with 5. Absolutely no more here.

Re: Neighbor found 2 kittens in his garage
I think we are going to call him Sparkplug...sparky for short.
And I may already have a potential family for him!! A friend I have said her daughter asked for a kitten this past Christmas. I advised her to avoid getting a pet around the holidays so she talked to her daughter and told her maybe for her birthday, which is in the summer. It would be a great time because the kids would be home from school to help take care of him. They are going to come down and visit him when he gets a wee bit older...then we will see if it's in the cards.
