I should have mentioned this before...After I posted last my cats(now almost a year old) shredded a roll of paper towels again. We're now keeping them in a higher cabinet that they don't get into. A big problem that I'm still having and has been happening for awhile is them chewing on the cat litter bag. I keep the bag in a cabinet close to where their cat box is and every time I get a new bag they chew one to two or three little holes in the bag. They're always right in the middle of the bag so when I go to pour cat litter out I find the hole(s) and get to clean up another mess:-( Why are they doing this and what can I do to make them stop? Someone said a lack of fiber but I feed them Purina Cat Chow Indoor formula, which has natural fibers in it.
This is frustrating but cute/funny too...The night before last I bought a bag of marshmallows to make rice krispie treats with and I woke up yesterday and found a marshmallow on the floor and it was kind of sticky. I was confused but opened up the cabinet and sure enough they had chewed a hole in the bag and were trying to eat a couple. I put the bag on the counter and later on caught my cat on the counter going towards them. A second time I caught her again but this time she was walking to jump off the counter and was carrying a marshmallow in her mouth:-) I shouldn't think it was funny but it was but I still got onto to her for it. Anyways, please help on the other things.

The solution is to keep all food things securely locked in your cabinets. Cat food can be kept in plastic containers (all pet stores have pet food containers, you can also use rubbermaid clear containers).
Go to your local hardware store and pick up several magnetic latches for your cabinets. Installing them is relatively easy...this should prevent the cats from opening the cabinets.
Again, it sounds like they are extremely bored, but they could also be hungry, especially if you feed them on a schedule, rather than free-feeding.
Purina Cat Chow is more of a generic brand of cat food, it isn't a high quality cat food. If your cats are over one year of age, I suggest a higher quality cat fod, such as Iams, Pro Plan or Hill's adult maintenance.
