Meesha is going to cross the bridge tomorrow
Meesha is going to cross the bridge tomorrow
Please keep my sister's doberman in your prayers, as she will be crossing the bridge tomorrow. She has been going downhill for about a week now, there is something wrong with her spine and she is deterorating quickly. The vet was trying to control it with steroid pills, but even upping the dosage is not helping anymore. My sister and her husband have made the very difficult decision to put her down and end her pain and suffering. Meesha is only 8 years old. and a very special member of the family...please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Re: Meesha is going to cross the bridge tomorrow
I am sorry to hear this...is it her disc? Did they look into surgery? They will be in my prayers.
Re: Meesha is going to cross the bridge tomorrow
I am sorry to hear...I pray for a safe journey for Meesha, and comfort to your sister and her husband as they make the difficult decision and are with her in her last moments...
Re: Meesha is going to cross the bridge tomorrow
I understand making that difficult decision, but I too wonder if they have sought another opinion, explored every option?
My thoughts and prayers are with Meesha and her family, whatever decision they choose, I know this is not easy.......

Re: Meesha is going to cross the bridge tomorrow
Thanks everyone.....I didn't really get into all the details with my sister, as she is very upset and doesn't really want to talk about it, but the vet(s) says surgery is not an option. Poor Meesha has lost all control of her body functions, but her mind is still there because she appears embarrassed at all the accidents she is having. She will truly be missed. Thanks for all your support.

Re: Meesha is going to cross the bridge tomorrow
I'm so sorry, Jodi...if the vet can do nothing more and Meesha's quality of life is minimal, I hope your sister and her family can find comfort in knowing that letting her go would be an act of kindness and love.

Re: Meesha is going to cross the bridge tomorrow
My Border Collie had that happen to her...after I moved from home, she became Mom's dog, following her even to the bathroom...But when Queenie could no longer control herself, and would go hide her face in the corner, Mom would clean her and comfort her...but the decision came when Mom watched Queenie trying to get to her water, and she just kept walking in frustrating circles...Mom made that call...
The vet came to our house and laid her to rest on the living room floor, with her head in my mother's lap...
I can understand the difficult decision, but in knowing that Meesha will no longer suffer in shame will be a blessing for her...
Peace for everyone tomorrow...
