Hello,
I have 3 beautiful cats and have been looking at some of the automated litter boxes for them. Does anyone know of a website where I can be directed to on the pros and cons of each brand. I would really like to purchase whichever is the best for them, but considering the price of these boxes I am hoping to do it the first time around. Any suggestions and/or experience is much appreciated.

I would be more interested in something teflon coated that the material cannot stick to like it was superbonded there.

yeah really...hhmmm...I wonder if we sprayed them with Pam before we add fresh litter...
I did go get new litter boxes lastnight...well, actually, they are 16x24 storage containers for under the bed...LOL...but the fit nicely right in the nook between the bathroom vanity and the wall, and then in the kitchen between the far cabinet and wall, near the garbage can...
I am only putting scoopable litter into these two bigger boxes, and the cats are loving them so far...LOL...I had to go strictly clay litter for a few months because Majik and Sissy were too little...
In the bathroom, I got flushable litter...now I just need to train hubby and son to scoop a couple clumps every time they go bathroom, and flush them down...and that box will stay nice and clean...
The kitchen one is regular scoopable litter, with a Litter Locker beside it...again, every time we throw soemthing in the garbage can, bend and scoop a couple poops to keep that one clean...
I figure if we all work on it and just get into the habit of sifting through every time we are near the box, we will all be happier critters in this household!!
Of course, I still have some around with clay as well, for those cats who prefer it...but if I can get them to convert over...how easy life will be!
Next step---toilet training...LOL...

In my new dream home, I'm going to build a self-containing, self-maintaining hydraulic contraption that I can flip a switch, the floor will magically open and the waste will simply fall through. Of course, this will give the cats the illusion of a huge sand box. A shower fixture will of course be installed for flushing, providing I can create a suitable drainage system.
It will also have another hydraulic contraption that magically sweeps and mops the floor after the waste has been dropped.
Skeptic, can you design this for me? I don't want to use teflon, though, I think Italian ceramic tile is much prettier.

I love the idea, Traci...hhmmm...a huge litter box/sand box in the middle of the room...LOL...kids and cats can both play in it...

Yeah really....eewwwww...our Great Dane used to think the litter box was his personal candy store...the beagle does not bother with the litter box so much, but if a cat pukes up (when one eats too fast and just looses the half chewewd food again), before I can get to it, Oliver does and cleans it all up for me...
And when my nephew was a toddler, they came over one day, and just before they arrived, the neighbors goats got loose and were over here at our front porch...Well, they left a few "Milk Duds" and Tommy almost picked one up to eat

Just an update on the new boxes...the cats are loving them...and so am I...
I only have TWO of them, so far...just the Sterlite under the bed boxes, 24" in length...
one in the kitchen at the far end, away from food, by the storage closet sort of tucked in between the end of the cabinet and the wall, with a garbage can sort of in front...they have a private cubby hole there...
and another in the bathroom upstairs, again between the sink base and the wall...there are wall shelves above, and I have a spring curtain rod and some material to match the shower curtain that I cut to hang under the shelf and "hide" the litter box, so it is private for them, and we do not have to look at it while we do our own thing in there!!
The kitchen one I have regular clumping litter and in the bathroom, Arm & Hammer flushable...
Every time I toss something in the garbage, also near the storage closet, I scoop the poop into the Litter Locker...and every time we go to the bathroom, we scoop two clumps into the toilet before we flush...at the end of the day, and again in the morning, I keep scooping two clumps and flushing until the box is clean...
The cats have not even used any of the other boxes...I am going to get rid of them today, and see how we do with just these two for the rest of the week...
I know the general rule is one more box than cats...but ten cats...that is 11 boxes decorating our home...LOL...Two HUGE boxes that are placed conveniently to clean often seem to be working...
and Callie...my picky one who goes on the floor all the time...I have not even cleaned the floor in two days...now...if I could only "catch" her using the box, and not find surprises when I rearrange the living room today!! Then I will know for sure we are successful!!
