therapy dogs in hospitals

Post by davet »

last week , while in the hospital i noticed that they had therapy dogs so i asked if i could see one..so a few hours later they broughrt around the three yar old miniature Boixer whow was supposed to come in and 'cheer me up" so they brought in a 3 year old miniature boxer whose job it was was to get his head up on the bed and let me swcratch its head to "calm me down".Well while there my "room mate
was having a doppler exam on his legs...and a doppler test sound like a toilet flushing every ten or so seconds...
so this three year old new therapy recurite got so scared she ended up under my blanket and i had to scratch her behind the ear to calm her down....it was a riot, she was shaking like a leaf but we both survived the ordeal.... she would not come out from under the blanket untill the doppler was done...I think that dog will need a few more training sessions..also in addition, when i came home the other night I ploped down into bed a fell sound asleep and then came the greatest awakening...My son, who had been keeping Sassie brought her home and this cold wet nose brushed my arm and wiggled till i scratched her.......i will say there is nothing like a dog to lower blood pressure and relax a person...

Awww...Sassie missed ya.

Davet- are you beginning to get around in the house? Can you put weight on that knee or what is the routine with that after surgery on the knee?

I'm glad you were there to calm down that therapy dog. I'm sure it's all new and frightening, but she'll get used to the sounds and smells.

Sounds like Sassie really missed you. I know she can't wait until you can go for your walks again.

mom's paw... i can get arpund pretty well even without the cane but still use it in case i trip..ii feel i could drive the car but arn't allowed to....want to get back into band activity buy can't lift or move my amplifier.........but so far so good..it still hurts a lot but each day athe hurt is less and the pain pills are less...i have exercises to do three times a day and my Nurze, Corinne doesn't let up on me.......if she wern't so good then i would fire her.. but doubt that that will happen....if sometiome in the future i can schedule the right knee will have it done as long as all other factores, ie B/P etc are beter controlled...tha pain i can cope with but the post op of IV,s, x-rays etc aare still a bugaaboo, psycholocigally....but will cross those bridges later........
