Mini.....what a beautiful kitty! You will know when the time is right for another....for some people, it is right away. Your heart will tell you what to do. I am so sorry for your loss.

I've so sorry to hear about Mini...She was beautiful. She knows that you did everything for her that you could.

We are so lucky to experience these special kitties that touch our heart and soul.

My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in finding peace and comfort knowing that you went above and beyond for Mini during her life. She knew this for sure and is now enjoying the peace and carefree days she once knew over The Bridge. Safe journey Mini.

Best of luck with a new kitty.

Thanks again everyone. Today was tough, especially when the vet called to give me the results of Mini's blood tests from Friday. It hits in waves...so much of my life is wrapped up in hers. I remember distinctly when my husband left me (after I had agreed for his sake not to have children) and my sister died, thinking that Mini was all I had and she'd die before I did. That was more than ten years ago. Thank God I had her all those years. So today was just wave upon wave of utter loss...

But life does go on and I need to and I needed life in the apartment with me so this is what I've done. I contacted a local group that fosters those feral cats young enough to be socialized. After living in their homes they put them up for adoption through our local Petsmart (where in this particular case, the manager helps pay all the group's in house expenses). I told them that I was willing to take on a problem adoption--either an older cat or a pair they did not want to separate.

I now have Ranger Rick, 4 yo male, who is thoroughly domesticated and has been most of his life. With him came a one year old yellow tabby, Woody, who has been inside since 6 months but was feral until then. They met right after Ranger Rick lost his best friend husky and Woody's sister Wanda had been adopted. They bonded and their caretakers were so worried they'd never be able to adopt out Woody without Ranger since Ranger seems to be the means of domesticating Woody (Ranger gets love and Woody wants it :D ) So this seemed to be the unlikely pair that could never find a home. I'm not expecting miracles, but I betcha it will be worth every moment.

Wish me luck!

What a wonderful story! Bless you for taking both of them. Your home will soon be filled with the unconditional love that only our furry babies can give us.

My best wishes go out for a smooth transition.

I wish you all the best. There are so many kitties out there who need a good home with alot of love.

I love Tambrey's belief about sending us another kitty who needs our love. What a wonderful way to deal with loss.

Plainhat...I am so happy for you and your new family!!
I know these new additions will be as much loved as Mini was...I guess she knew you needed a double blessing to help you get over the hard times :)

I remember not long after my Tigger died from old age complications, my mother found a kitten almost identical to Tigger on her front porch...Mom has no idea how this kitten got past her dogs, who detest cats, but she did...Mom brought her to our house as she was not interested in having a cat at that time...she loves her dogs (however, she now has two tamed feral brothers in her home, thanks to me :) )...Tiglet is just as cuddly and vocal as Tigger was, so I named her Tiglet in his memory...

But I feel that somehow Tigger knew that this little kitten needed a home, and that we were going to be the right home...however, since she was a few miles away from our house, he sent her to my mother's knowing that she would end up here after all!!

Again, congratulations on your new additions...you will have to post pics as soon as you can get some taken!!
