People can be so cruel!!!
People can be so cruel!!!
We live in Tennessee near the South Holston lake, which is a man-made lake held back by a dam. My brother loves to go kyaking on the lake and one day he stopped at a small uninhabited island (it was probably the top of a hill before they filled the lake) and found this tiny kitten on the island. There was no food, other than a few crackers tossed on the ground. The kitten was so friendly that he was able to row all the way back to his car with the kitten in the kyak (it fell out once, but he was able to scoop it up quickly). When I first saw this kitten, it was so tiny that I thought it was a 4-5 week old kitten and it was nothing but skin and bones. When he brought it to the vet, they said he was about 6 months old! He was literally starving to death! There was no way this kitten could have gotten on this island without someone taking him and leaving him there (my brother checked and said there were no other cats or kittens on the island). I don't understand how anyone could do that to an animal... But he has a good home now and is doing good...you can barely feel his backbone anymore. It just amazes me how cruel people can be.

It never ceases to amaze me how croeul some can be...I am glad your borther was on the lake that day and able to rescue the kitten...I guess fate brought them together
Re: People can be so cruel!!!
Thanks to you and your brother for caring and rescuing this poor kitty. I'm glad to know he's doing well.
I hope the creeps that put him there find themselves with an incurable jock or crotch itch throughout the new year.
I apologize if my words are harsh and if Traci needs to delete my post, so be it. With what I've been seeing and hearing lately about animal abuse, y'all are going to hear about me on the evening news!
Breaking news....this just in....a red headed curly haired crazy cat woman from New York has built an ark and kidnapped all things furry to reside with her on a deserted island equipped with kibble and fresh water to last forever. Authorities are unable to get anywhere near the island because of the man-eating alligators and sharks she has trained living around the perimeter. We can report from this distance that it appears a cat-conga-line has formed with her leading the way. The dogs on the island appear to be raising the roof with their front paws while the birds fly to and fro with signs that read "suckers"

OMG, Cleo...I had to laugh out loud and read your reply to my husband...it does not seem harsh to me...they deserve whatever they get...
Re: People can be so cruel!!!
Yes I know how cruel people can be,
My Aunt Julie got a cat when she moved into her new home in the trailer park. Of course she has two kids my cousin shelby and my cousin brette and they are both very young. Well anyway she's at the cat for about a year or so, and then she married Barre..(who is now my uncle). Well then the two of them decide to move into a diff. place in the trailer park so they get rid of the cat.
Is what upsets me is I just figured out HOW they got rid of the cat!! They drove out into the country and dropped the cat off in a sack!!!!!!! I have never been so upset in my LIFE!!!! If I had known about this sooner, I would have turned them in to animal control!!!!!

Oh man, I'm sorry I just read this because now I'd like to put your aunt and uncle in a sack and take them into the woods myself. Of course I'd call for help in a week or two ... maybe.
Re: People can be so cruel!!!
well it makes you wonder why they never told me where the cat was when I asked cuz they know how much of an animal lover i am.

Oh...that's just makes me steam...both stories...grrrrrr
Someone found a cat out in the Gulf here...they think that someone probably threw the cat out of a boat. The rescuers took it into a vet and they named him Nemo because he was orange. Not sure how long he had been out there. Here's a link to the story:
