Mr. Blue passed his yearly physical with flying colors!

Post by Mary Plummer »

Hello everyone,

Sorry I haven't been around lately; I'm still trying to come to terms with my MS diagnosis. Mr. Blue was due for his 3-yr. rabies shot, so I took him in last week. We saw a new vet at our practice, and she liked Mr. Blue a lot! She said she wouldn't be able to accurately guess his age based only on his teeth, that they're in much better shape than she would expect for a 7-year old dog. She asked how often I brushed them, and I shame-facedly said never, because he just eats the toothpaste and chews the brush. He does get hard chewies every night, which must help. She also said his ears were good. This vet doesn't think his weight is as much of a problem as one vet there does. She said she doesn't want him gaining more, bit he's actually lost 1.5 pounds since last fall!

Hope all is well for all of you and your wonderful dogs! I'll be back more often now,

Mary

Mary- so glad you're back! Missedya. Mr. Blue sounds like he is getting top care. At 7 he is just a kid..Honey turned 12 on Dec. 1 -and she is like a puppy. Her and I both have arthritis, but that is to be expected at our respective ages. But if I figure my age in dog years ...then it's little better.
Hope to see some Mr. Blue pictures soon and hope you are doing ok with the MS.

Welcome back, Mary! I have been thinking of you and hoping for the best!

What kind of hard chewies do you give Mr. Blue? Winnie needs some help along those lines... Dr gave us a gel to use daily, so we'll have to see if it helps.

Hi Marty!

I've been giving him Pedigree Denta-stix lately, and some chews from our Pet Supplies Plus store. He likes the Pedigree Jumbones too. I've been trying to watch how much I spend lately. I think I'm going out on permanent disability freom my job, so $ will tighten up a bit for us.

Thanks...maybe I'll give those a try. I know what you mean by tight $$$...When I was working, I took care of the Vet bills for 3 dogs, so now when something needs attention, it can be rough.

Glad to hear from you Mary - we've missed you. I'm also glad that Mr. Blue got another gold star from the vet. I am sorry to hear about your continuing health problems though.
