Manually expressing bladder

Could someone please describe the procedure to manually express a cat's bladder? And how can I tell if it is full or empty?

You need to have your vet specifically show you how to do this. Expressing the bladder takes a gentle hand/approach and knowledge on how to do it properly. if too much pressure is used, you risk the chance of rupturing the bladder.
