REDNECK KITTEN

sung to the tune of "Redneck Woman" by Gretchen Wilson

Image

No, I ain't never been the fuzzy mouse type,
No, I don't swig that cat sip milk;
I'd rather chew nip all night,
On the sofa, on the table,
On the Grandfather clocks.
Oh, I got posters on my wall of Garfield,
Fritz and Socks.
Some people look down on me,
But I don't give a rip,
"Cause I'll stand four footed up upon your chest,
And tear open your lip!

Image

'Cause I'm a red necked kitten;
I ain't no high class cat.
I', a product of my raisin';
I say Meow, Hiss and Spat.
I leave my fresh killed rodents
On my front porch all year long,
And I know all the words to
Every Cat in the Hat Poem.
So here's to all my sisters out there,
keepin it country.
Let's all hear a big Meow
For a redneck cat like me.
MEOW!
(MEOW!)

Now Fosters and Smith;
Their stuff's real nice.
But I can buy that same damned collar
On the Walmart shelf half price.
And still look *beep*,
Just as *beep*, as those kitties on TV.
No, I don't need no designer tag
To make my Tom want me.
Some may think I'm nutso,
A little too whacked out.
But in my neck of the woods,
That's what I'm all about.

'Cause I'm a red necked kitten;
I ain't no high class cat.
I', a product of my raisin';
I say Meow, Hiss and Spat.
I leave my fresh killed rodents
On my front porch all year long,
And I know all the words to

Traci,
I'll post pics of Sals, Razzeratz and Sasha shortly. Little Gracie sure is growing up....iun fact, yesterday she went into heat for the first time, LOL! Poor little thing. She's very affectionate (when she's in the mood) to begin with, now I can't peel her offa me! Looks like we know what this New Years resolution is going to be.
Unfortunately she keeps getting that URI back and her eye keeps tearing. I told my vet after the holidays I want her tested for herpes or whatever may be causing this URI to never go completely away or if it even is a URI. Since she'll need bloodwork for the surgery, I guess that would be a good start. I may want some cultures of her boogers and eye tearings sent in too. May even be a bad tear duct that can be cured through surgery if I can find someone that knows what the hey they're looking at. The vets at the clinic are good, but they're like people general practitioners, not specialists. I think Gracie's ailments need further consideration besides a case of clavamox and eye ointment.

k@t and Tina & Crewssing due to a very bad URI that affected her eyes. The one eye was so badly infected it was bulging almost out of its socket and was removed. Although her remaining eye is teary quite often, she sees fine and is not hindered in any way. She loves playing fetch with pipe cleaners. They land silently when thrown. If she doesn't quite see where one has landed, I will point in the direction where it did land and she will follow my finger's lead. (Unlike most cats as George Carlin said will come up to you an smell your finger....all my other cats did this too, LOL!) Gracie is a little smartie!
I got her at the vet clinic where I work. Long story short, she was from a shelter who uses our vets and I fell in love with her. She was so tiny and had such a loud purr and loved giving head butts and snuggling on your neck. Had to have her. I wasn't sure though how well things would work out since Sals and Razzeratz hated Sasha so much (Sasha, aka WhiteBitch, wasn't very friendly at first and really got off to a very bad start.) Graci turned into an attack kitten, butSals and Razzeratz puut up with her and treated her like a pesty kid sister. And now that she's growing up (still smaller than them) they still tolerate her, give or take a small scratch and body slams....ust as they would do to each other. Even Sasha doesn't seem to be too upset by her.
Now I will post some pics of my happy little family on another thread.
Kitty kisses,
Debbie

Good idea on getting a swab cytology....can your vets refer you to a feline opthamologist nearby? An opthamlolgist would be handy in the event it is a blocked tear duct (hopefully it isn't) requiring surgery.

It would seem that if she actually responds to clavamox courses, that it might not be the tear ducts.

The clavamox works for the URI (sneezing). Once the clavamox is stopped, within a few days to a week she starts sneezing again. The eye tearing is continuous and isn't helped at all by the clavamox or even the ointment. Both or either will help with any reddening of the membranes but the eye still tears. **sigh**! Vet says the tearing may just be normal for her. ????? I don't think it should be normal for anyone.
Kitty kisses,
Debbie

No, it isn't normal. Do you remember if she had any post-op problems after the eye removal? That is, continuing infection after surgery, slow recovery, etc? Was her remaining eye teary before her surgery? If so, there could be a good possibility of herpes, but as you suspect, it could also be a blocked tear duct, in which surgical correction usually is curative. A good feline opthamologist could determine that right away....otherwise he could do a cytology to confirm or rule out herpesvirus.

She has never had severe sneezing or sinus problems or discharge from the nose, has she?

Sneezing?? HooBoy! I refer to her sneezing sometimes as machine gun sneezing. Never saw anything like it. A couple days of clavamox and it goes away. Keep her on the stuff for 10 days to two weeks and she''s good to go for a few days to a week and it's back to sneezing. She does get a little booger crust at her right nostril (side with the eye). And when she sneezes she can get a good spray going. Sneeze, boogers and eye discharge all clear though. Appetite always good, active, alert, you'd never know she had something going on.
Nothing out of the ordinary in her record or from the vet that performed the surgery. Herpes was not suspected. Would a problematic tear duct cause snneezing?
Kitty kisses,
Debbie
