My cat won't stop suckling

Post by Blondie_2036 »

Please help me. I have no idea what to do. I have a Male Kitten which is approximately 15 weeks old, i also have a older cat, Male, About 16-18 Years old. My kitten keeps sucking on his chest and wont stop. Is sucking so much that there are sores on him. I looked on the internet and all i could find was "wool Sucking" and my kitten only sucks on my other cat, not on anything else. I got him the day he turned 5 weeks. Could it be that he was taken away too soon? Or could it be that he is teething? Please is there anything i can do to keep him away from my other cat at all? Like is there anything i can put on him? I need some answers...

You need to seperate the older kitty from the kitten when he does this. Seperate them in seperate rooms for about 10 minutes at a time when you catch the kitten exhibiting this behavior. Don't wait until he is *not* doing it, as he won't associate the time-out if you do it at any other time.

If he isn't neutered yet, now is the time to do so.

I have the same problem with my kitten except she sucks my hand. The vet said its ok that she does this and it could be a result of being taken away from her mother so early. I don´t think there is much you can do other then try to show that the behavior isnt acceptable and like Traci said seperate them. Your poor older cat. I hope you can resolve the issue. Best of luck!

Thank you for your idea's...my kitten is still too young to get nutured and i do give him time out everytime i catch him but when i release him i can usually catch him doing it a little while later.... and i seperate them at night too. I think my cat is just evil. ...j/k

Your kitten is not too young for neutering....call and make an appointment with your vet for a full exam and neuter. As long as he is over 2-3 lbs, is healthy, he can be safely neutered.
