this is a slooow board. Maybe you could just call and ask the vet what he/she thinks.

The few times my dog has thrown up is when he has kennel cough, the common cold for dogs. He will throw up clear, and then cough for several days. He will be lethargic.

Has your dog been to a boarding kennel, grooming shop, dog park, etc. lately? Somewhere with a lot of dogs? He may have gotten the kennel cough germ from them.

Call and ER vet, there is usually always one available during after hours and holidays....your own primary vet should have a referral number available if you call his answering service.

You can try to withhold food for about 4 hours and slowly introduce small amounts at a time, but if he continues to vomit, develops other signs of illness, the best thing to do would be call an ER vet promptly.

He is better today. We did with hold food from him. Tried chicken broth but that came up. Nothing stayed in his stomach. I neglected to say he is 14 years old. This morning he was able to keep a little chicken broth in him. So that is our plan for the day. Tomorrow the vet. Thanks
