Feline Pine Cat Litter

I think that is the name of it...sold at WalMart...small bag with pellet litter made from pine sawdust compacted into the pellet shapes...

Anyways, I got some to try and see how the picky cat liked it...well, the others just LOVED it...I guess Callie did too, for a while...

I read the bag, and it said to only put an inch into the pan...hhmmmm...
that did not just seem like enough, so I put half a bag into each pan...scooped the solid stuff out daily and sifted the sawdust to the bottom...cats all loved it...I did too..no smell except the pine...even their feet smelled good after visiting the litter box...

Then I got the flu over the weekend and did not even get out of bed for about 3 days execpt to go to the bathroom...that pan does not have this litter in it yet...I only put it into two pans to see what they thought...

Well...hubby or son neglected to scoop pans while I was sick...UGH....but ohhhhhhh myyyyy....the pine pellets were all sawdust by then, and overflowing the pans, literally...pine dust on the floors all around the pans...moiuntains of pine dust....YIKES!!!....Now I know why it said to only line the pan with one inch...LOL...

Anyways...just thought I would share this with you all...

Wow !! I also grabbed a bag at Wally World (plus 112 pounds of scoopable !!) just to try it out. Didnt know it reacted like that !!

They really seem to like it alot...and it does help with litter box smells...there are none as long as you FOLLOW DIRECTIONS!!!

Go with JUST the one inch recommended, the solids scoop out very easy, and then shake the pan a bit to settle the sawdust part of it...
I got more to change a couple more pans over...I think I will go with it in all of them now that I know they like it and it does seem easier...

Plus, I never did like throwing away for the garbage men the litter waste when I changed them...so sometimes I tossed it out back in our pasture area, but we have horses back there now...
This is compostable, so it solves that problem as far as disposal goes too

I will do that...I got more this evening to switch all over this weekend...

Right now, I do have tracking, but I think that is more because of the mounds of sawdust from the original bunch I put in...and since I have old hardwood floors, it kind of crept into corners and such...
But as for serious tracking, I have not seen any...after I get everything shopvac'ed this weekend from corners and between boards, I will be able to better tell you

I have had it in the two boxes for over a week now, and no smells at all from either one, as of yet... and the cats are still using them...
They will get completely changed this weekend...they are all sawdust now, actually, have been for a couple of days now, and they still use it!!!
I figured as long as they are still using it, and no smells, I may as well gt as much use from the sawdust as possible...

Well if it's really dusty, I would clean it more often...you don't want that dust ending up in their lungs.

no, it is not dusty in the sense you would think...they are a bit lareger pieces of sawdust...and the pellets break down when moist, so the sawdust does not float around at all...yet it does not look or feel wet to the touch, either...
strange stuff, but they all seem to like it

I quit using it simply because it tracked so bad I was finding saw dust all over my house...ick!

I'm back to using regular clay litter now...seems it's the only thing my cats can agree on...more work for me but at least they are using the boxes
