Wow!! Congrats to all you moms and dads who give your kitty babies pills. I just had to give my baby a deworming pill and I thought, easy as pie... hide it in the food.
No luck.... he just licked the food off the pills and left them.
Had to open his mouth put the pills in and then close his mouth and hold it shut for him to swallow it.
First pill got it on second try, second half took like 40 tries!! PHEWPH!
Congrats KItty Parents!
Re: Congrats KItty Parents!
A trick I saw the vet do was when he popped the pill into thier mouth, he gently held their mouth and puffed (slightly blew) on their noses...
Not exactly sure what that does, except it did make them swallow it right down...
Hope this helps for next time...because as your kitten grows, he may need meds for other reasons...but liquids are always easier if the med comes that way!!

Re: Congrats KItty Parents!
I didnt get the second pill in!!! I just picked him up to cuddle him and it came off his fur in my hand.
I checked him over too!!! Oh well i tried your trick with the blowing... didnt work
But I held his mouth closed long enough until I felt him swallow this time.
Thanks for the support!

Something I do afer popping a pill in their mouth while holding it closed is gently rub their throats in a downward motion. I usually feel the pill go down this way too. You can also try coating it with butter and having a favorite treat ready after it goes down so he can associate the reward with taking his medicine.
Good luck!
