Hometown Dawg Jawg

Post by Marty »

coming next week to raise funds for a new shelter, and I thought I would take Winnie to see what it is all about. Mentioned it to hubby.....darned if he didn't say he would like to go......(rambling here, but he is thinking of retiring in a couple years....he knows I don't want him to.....in the past month, he is all a sudden agreeing to a lot of things he wouldn't normally have done.....is he buttering me up?). He said he wasn't sure Winnie could walk a mile (I"m not sure I can either with my back, but we can both be pooped pups)....So I am thinking we can take Biscotti and Louie....both are rescues from this shelter (Bisc, 8 yrs ago, and Louie, I yr ago).

Now, I am thinking of making them bandanas.....anyone have a catchy slogan I can write on them?

thanks, if you followed me this far.....

How about:
"Proud to be a Rescue"
"[Name of Shelter]" Alumnus or "Proud to be a [name of shelter] alumnus"
"I love (or heart symbol) my new family"
"Don't forget, love (or spay) your pet"
"I [heart] Rescues"
"Rescues are best"
"Can you believe somebody didn't want me?" - that one's probably too long
"I'm here because somebody cared" (Your T-shirt could say "I'm somebody" or "I care")
"Finally, forever home"
"Love on four legs"
"Furry friend"
If you want to be more dramatic: "Why didn't they love me?"

(Your T-shirt says "I love rescues" or something like that).

Don't know if any of these will work, but maybe you can build on them - I kinda got on a roll :D

And as for the question about your hubbie, the answer is "yes"

Thanks for your ideas!!! I think "Rescues are best" would fit the event very nicely! I will try to get some pictures to share....

We had a blast! But no pics :( Too hard to handle a dog and a camera! Their bandanas were made out of bright orange tie-dyed fabric ( to match their orange printed hats and leashes). I used "We love rescues" and put their names and adoption years on them. Biscotti almost went flat toward the end of the 1 mile walk, and we came in dead last! That nose had a lot of sniffing to do! She almost won the prize for the oldest dog (at 9), but a lady came forward with a 15 yr old dog....who didn't walk... The event was covered by the media, and several of them took pics of us....so we'll see if we make headlines! A fun day, and for a good cause!

Now my back needs the help of that chiropractor who sponsored it!

If you're in the paper, see if they have an on-line link we can go into. I'm glad you had fun.

Didn't you say something before about Bassetts becoming unbelievably heavy when they don't want to do something you want them to do? I guess Biscotti got tired of walking! :)

This is a news video, so I don't know if it will work.

If you enlarge it, Biscotti is under the "Dawg Jawg" banner. We are also walking along the fence.....but don't blink! A small local paper is having a follow-up with pics tomorrow, so maybe the wonderful pic that I know he got will be there....or maybe it wasn't so great.....
