Ashtabula, Ohio --- Puppy Murderer
Re: Ashtabula, Ohio --- Puppy Murderer
Oh my - I hope they find out who is doing this. My best guess, a young boy, probably about 13 - 15, possibly older if immature and abused, and a future serial killer if he isn't caught now. Look for the psycho dad, and you'll find the psycho kid.

True...that is usually how it goes...and someone has to stop it somewhere along the line...
Re: Ashtabula, Ohio --- Puppy Murderer
Ugh... shades of Charlie Starkweather! Gruesome stories about him and this sort of thing kept turning up in and around Lincoln, NE for years after that psychopath was executed. My daughter and I had a pair of saddle ponies we boarded at a place on the edge of town... one year some creep went around mutilating horses; we and our whole horse club got up in arms, practically vigilantes for awhile, and all the old stories re that psycho pattern of behavior surfaced again... Starkweather was gone but we found out some stuff we would just as soon not have known (we had recently come out to Lincoln from Cedar Rapids.) Like, he had been one of the garbage men on our street, and the house where the banker and family were killed was a couple of blocks away from our house... Son's best friend in his freshman year at UN stayed with a family next door to that house and it bothered the nice young man from Sioux City a lot when he heard this...
I do not think the kid with the Basset here in Lakeview this past Saturday was anything of that sort... If I hadn't been so crippled up I would have gone downstairs and outside to ask if he needed help... or at least tried to open the window... The more I think about it, the more I feel he was just playing with the dog and took off because he thinks I am a crank. Sigh.
And after all this I have to say I also remember Ashtabula, OH quite well ... it is a town on Lake Erie just east of Cleveland... why we used to drive out there I do not recall... think maybe there was a marina there and we liked to look at boats.
Isn't it strange how the older we get, the more bits and pieces we remember?...

Wow...you have been around....and guess what...I live about 20 miles north of Soux City...small world for sure!!
Speaking of psychopaths...when I worked in a department store in Tucson back in the early 80's, we were in training and told to never walk to our cars from the store (at a big mall) at night, that we had to walk in groups or get a security guard to walk us out to our cars.
At this statement, one of the women spoke up and said that when she worked at a department store in California years before then, they were also told they had to be walked out by a security guard...there was one particular nice guard she had walk her out quite often...
then some time after that, she was totally shocked (more like freaked out!) when she saw the same person all over the news...his name... ...Charles Manson...
Goes to show, you just never really know...
