[moved to feline health...woops]
every once in a while (3-6 months or so) i will come home to some vomit on the floor...i am aware of hairballs getting large and causing this (that does happen sometimes too), but sometimes it's mostly food.
my guess is either stress or something in the air (or something they licked) that didn't register well.
my two are inside only with exception to the back screened in patio. seem semi-normal?
infrequent regurgitation

When it's mostly food, chances are 1) someone is eating too fast, not chewing or 2) there is a hairball accumulating. 3-6 month frequency isn't bad at all, if it were more frequent, you'd want to get them checked.
If there is any time you see vomited hairballs on a frequent basis, you can try Laxatone or Petromalt given once or twice a week until it subsides, plus brush them at least twice weekly. As for food, you can try feeding smaller portions more often. The less frequent vomiting occurs, the less you have to do much about it, usually it's because they didn't thoroughly chew their food.

hmm...thanks Traci, i do have some laxatone and that seems to take care of it, but the brushing i'm sure will help.Traci wrote:If there is any time you see vomited hairballs on a frequent basis, you can try Laxatone or Petromalt given once or twice a week until it subsides, plus brush them at least twice weekly. not sure how to slow down their eating though! i guess i'll sit them down one day and explain it to them

Yep, I talk to mine too. Sure help, LOL! Razzeratz will occasionally inhale his food, then bolt from the bowl and chuck it up. He'll only do this with the canned stuff. And as Traci said 3-6 months isn't bad at all!
Kitty kisses,
Debbie
