Well, we start moving this week. Its been a challenge trying to sell a house with our 7 cats. Putting everyone in their carriers seemed to be the least stressfull thing for them during open houses, showings, inspections, etc. I think we were more stressed than they were.
The Introductions FAQ has been a great help to us bringing in the new guys. We didnt follow it to the letter but we did use most of it. The best advise ever is take it slow. So were planning on introducing the kids to their new home very gradually.
Were only moving about 10 miles so were able to do it over several days. Our vet suggested taking the cats last, that way all their familiar furniture, toys & smells will be there when they get there. We'll start them out in the basement & let them explore one room at a time over several days.
We have 2 kittens about 12 weeks, 4 cats that are 2-3 yrs & Magick, our senior citizen is about 14. Im a little worried about her age. We'll take extra care with her.
Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance !!

Re: Moving
Tip from the long, long ago re helping a cat settle into a new home: while cat is confined in carrier or quiet room, spread a little butter (or oleo or heavy cream or even oil from canned tuna) on top of its paws... grooming the substance from a paw is a pleasant distraction with a calming effect. Repeat as necessary.
Congratulations on your new home and best wishes for all.
