Kitty litter tray problem.

Post by Meg »

Hi my kitten is 10 months old this month and absolutley gorgeous :D . Daisy goes out now when we are in but at night time and when we go out we shut her in the house, we do this because I need to know where she is.
The problem is just latley when she is in she refuses to use her litter tray and goes to the toilet by the front door :? . I dont want to let her out all the time. What can I do to stop this? :?

The first step would be to take this kitten to the vet to rule out an urinary infection. That is the most important thing.

Hopefully that gets ruled out, so then you look at the litterbox issue: Is the box clean? Do you scoop it, scrub it out? How many boxes do you have? One cat should have two boxes, as cats will pee in one place and deficate in another. Is it in a good location for her, is it covered? uncover it? Is it small? Buy a larger box. I have 18 cats inside/outside and I have 12 boxes upstairs. I scoop three times a day and scrub them out twice a week, replacing all litter when I scrub. If you litterbox is clean, then perhaps it is your litter, or location? It is sort of like a puzzle and you are the detective to try and figure it out. But FIRST take that baby to the vet!

Oh and you want a good tip to make litterbox cleaning a breeze? After you scrub your boxes out, and air dry them, spray them with the cooking spray PAM before dumping the litter in. No sticky mess when you scoop all the waste just slides right out!

Thanks MA for your advice. Daisy does not have an infection thank goodness. I have 2 litter boxes for her and i scoop each time she uses it.
Daisy hasnt done it for a few days so hopefully whatever was bothering her is over. THanks again for your advice :D
