Crystal drooled buckets of saliva yesterday. From about 1 p.m. in the afternoon and then all day and practically all night.
I honestly couldn't figure out what was wrong. The dog is with me constantly, and I watch over her like a hawk. I have no idea what could've happened.
Last night she had a vet appt. anyway and I told him about her salivating...he just told me to find out what she may have eaten and call Poison Control. She had no other symptoms besides the drooling and then a soft stool last night. Her demeanor was fine and she was happy and playing.
I did notice that her back top molars have emerged. They are maybe 1/4 of the way erupted. Can teething cause a dog to drool a great deal of saliva???

Well it would be unusual for drooling to occur during teething, but it's possible. If she's painful during teething, you can determine this by how she eats, what toys she chooses or avoids to chew on, etc.
I agree with your vet, sounds like she might have gotten into something ...do a quick check in your yard for anything unusual, etc....another rule-out might be excessive heat, was she really hot yesterday, panting, or? Do you have fireants, and/or was there a possibility she got bit in the mouth by an insect?

Nausea from eating something she shouldn't have was my first thought, too. Mikey can soak himself on a bad night.

Okay, today I found a small piece of chewed up tree bark in the yard ~ soaked and very slippery like there had been a slug on it. I'm wondering if she chewed the tree bark and ate a slug, which is quite disgusting.
How she got a hold of this is beyond me......I watch her constantly.
Probably while I was out picking up her huge piles of crap in the yard at 6:30 a.m., she's doing this in the split second that I take my eyes off her.
I can't wait until the ground freezes over around here.
