My cat pee'd on my blue jeans! Why??!!!??!!

Post by lovemyfurbabies »

One of my two darlings, I think it was the oldest one pee'd on my blue jeans that were laying in the bathroom floor yesterday!!
Why would she do this? I've never known her to do that before.

And no....she doesn't have a UTI.....

Does it have anything to do with her wanting my attention? Because she has been especially whiney the past 2 days, also, and following me everywhere when normally, she keeps to herself pretty much...

What do you guys think?

Wanting your attention, being clingy and sudden inappropriate urination are warning flags to get her evaluated by your vet.

Both my cats just got back from the vet 2 days ago for their annual check-up.....they are perfectly healthy.

Anyone else?

Since you never want to listen to my advice or observations, don't be too surprised to find the advice echoed by others on occasion. When sudden changes occur and when it is coupled with one or more other behavioral changes, it is almost always a sign that something is amiss. Whether this be a hidden health problem or behavioral, is ultimately up to you to find out.

Since your cat seems to be in perfect health, then you need to start ruling out environmental stress. What occured shortly or directly before the occurance, was there any undue stress preceding it, find out why she seems to be so clingy and following you everywhere...have you changed something in the home, have you changed yours or her routine, etc etc etc.

I've posted several times throughout this forum advising owners never to leave clothes, wet towels, etc lying around because these are prime targets for most any kitty to urinate on. When a cat does that, it is usually one of two things...instinct, to mark the owner's personal item....or the cat's way of alerting the owner to a potential stress problem or health problem.

Did the vet do a urinalysis during the vet exam? Call and check with them, because if they do not do a urinalysis, there is no way of knowing if something is wrong in that respect or not. If they did not do one, please get your cat back to the vet.

My two cents...kk

Traci,
It has nothing to do with your advice. Had any other poster said that, I would have said the same thing.
They just got back from the vet and yes, they did do a urinalysis, and stool sample and all the other things that is involved in a complete check-up and they are in perfect health.

In the 2 days preceding her "incident", I was very busy with school, gone a lot and didn't get to spend a whole lot of time with my cats, whereas on any average day I spend a lot of quality time with them.

Both of my cats were clingy and wanting attention after those busy two days, but that's not unusual for my baby cat, Tigger, she is always that way...it's just her nature. She's always right at my feet...not because anything is wrong, but just because she is rather spoiled and quite the baby.
But my oldest one, Sasha, she has a much different personality. She pretty much keeps to herself except for when she wants some petting or if she's alerting me to a need (such as her food bowl or water bowl being empty, litter box needs cleaning, etc).
And I just thought it was odd that all of a sudden she wanted my attention so badly.

But I suspect it's because I was so busy those two days and couldn't spend much time with them. And I was just wanting to see if you guys would suggest that as a reason.
I was thinking maybe my blue jeans had my smell on them...and she missed me....and smelled my jeans and then pee'd on them...??
I dunno..that's just what I thought.

No need to take offense, just saving you some uneccesary typing.....

I prescribe a large dose of hugs and kisses, then. That may do the trick! I hope so anyway. Sorry I could not help you. Kitties are very sensitive, though, so hopefully the extra attention (and picking up those jeans!) will stop this in its tracks. Good luck. kk
