....or should that be purrrrrsonality?
I'm just wondering if anyone has a cat like this; her name is Tawnee - she showed up at my house about 3 yrs ago (I think her owners moved away and left her) and the vet thinks she was about 1 yr old when she came here. Including her, I have had only 5 cats - 4 males and this one female. All my males were pretty easy going and basically laid back, but this girl is quite the opposite. I call her "Miss Priss". She seems to be in a snit most of the time, like a spoiled, snotty teenaged girl or something. If you look at her the wrong way, she'll "Wah" at you and walk away most of the time. DH says she stares at him and he looks at her and sees Hannibal Lechter - Lol! She will lay on me and purr when I am on the couch watching TV and she wants to play with me sometimes, but mostly she is kind of aloof and skittish. She needs major brushing, but hates to be brushed or combed. I KNOW I am not hurting her, but you'd think I was trying to rip her head off! I know all cats have their own personality but I was wondering if it sounds like she was abused or something before she came here.
Cat personality question.................
I have her twin, Lisa, only he's a male, and one of my ferals.
As a kitten, he of course wanted nothing more than to be adored, loved on and get attention all the time. Now, at roughly three years old, he is a little terror. In his case, being outdoors, it would be a territorial issue. It may be the same for Tawnee. She could be trying to establish her female alpha role and has simply decided she will accept things on her terms only.
It very well could be her prior history. I'm not sure there is much you can do about it. Except to treasure the times she bonds with you, spend extra time with her, and always reassure her that she is number one

..........Traci
Sounds like my Misty...
She was a "queen" and made sure everyone knew it. I got her when she was barely 8 weeks old from a good home and had suffered no abuse. She just thought the world revolved around her and her every need... I have some great stories about her displaying her authority and "regal-ness".
She was a very special kitty. I loved her so much and will always miss her, and she will forever be in my heart!!
