Molly died

Post by Margaret »

We said good-bye to our little Molly girl yeterday. I posted last week to get input about vaccinations for her. Thank you Traci and KathyLynn for your responses. On Saturday night she collapsed and lost control of her bladder. We were about to take her to the emergency vet when she stood up and went to the kitchen looking for her dinner. She slept peacefully all night. On Sunday morning she collapsed again and lost control of her bladder. We took her straight to the vet knowing that it was time to say goodbye. The emergency vet said that we were making the right decision for her. She was almost 17 years old and had been living with pancreatic insufficiency and inflammatory bowel disease. Despite these conditions she was a happy girl. Much credit goes to our wonderful veterinarian who was with us every step of the way since we adopted her 2 1/2 years ago. I am writing this because I want people to know that there was a very special cocker spaniel named Molly. She was a good girl and very easy to love. We feel very fortunate that we had a chance to make a difference in her life.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my friend Emma two years ago - she was 21yo and I greive for her still. Soon after she died, I began having dreams that she was "visiting" me - still the one that would always come to comfort me when I was hurting. As time passed, the dreams became less frequent but I still feel her presence. I have her ashes here with me now, but I know that's not where she is. Her sould is, and has always been, in my heart.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's so hard to say goodbye, even when you know it's time. It sounds like her final days were happy ones. You blessed her life by taking her in so late in life and making sure she was happy and as healthy as possible in spite of her underlying problems. You are special to have taken in and loved an elderly dog that I assume either no one else wanted or had lost her long-time family. Not many people are willing to do that, and I know she must have been very happy to be with you.
