Advantage users-Please Help

I want to put my 2 cats on Advantage as they have a bad flea problem. I was always against pesticidal products and thought I could get rid of them by flea-combing and Boraxing, but they won't go away. I would appreciate any comments from people who have used the Advantage program on their cats. Does it work? Any bad side-effects? Is it really safe?
