Tree sap on paws

Post by Tia's mommy »

Does anyone know how to remove tree sap from paws other than cutting the fur off? The trees are fir, cedar and pine. Thanks.

I know a solvent like turpentine will disolve it, but I don't recommend using it on a dog. Maybe alcohol? Me, I just cut it out. We don't have a problem here, but I used to have a yard full of pine trees, and Leah got into it often.

dont know if it will work, but the vet-techs at my clinic have suggested dawn soap for dealing with motor oil on cats.

Do you mean Dawn dish soap? I can try that, thank you. I don't mind cutting it out but sometimes it is also right on the pads and I can't cut that!!!!

I would suggest rubbing alcohol.
