Bach Flower Remedies
Bach Flower Remedies
How do you give to multiple cats when they won't drink the treated water?
I have too many to give to put on the ears like I did when I used one remedy. None of the cats can stand the smell of the alcohol in the water. Not sure why others cats will drink it and my nine won't touch it.
Help.

i have no idea what your talking about as far the treatment your mentioning. what did your vet say this would do for your cats and what is it exactly?
Re: Bach Flower Remedies
Jason,
Have you heard of Rescue Remedy? These are homeopathic that have some good effects.
I have used RR for years both for my pets and myself.

Re: Bach Flower Remedies
I have no wish to flame, and I DO have a lot of things going on in my life, to the extent that I cannot take time to reply to most posts. But I feel that I must say something here, beginning with a pointed question: Have you consulted a REAL veterinary medical authority about putting a medication of ANY kind - especially a compound containing ALCOHOL - into the drinking water of house pets? Frankly, I cannot imagine a legitimate practitioner advising this in a pet situation of the type you describe - if I am mistaken, please so inform me.
Yes, I have heard of "Rescue Remedy" but my actual information on it is limited and I admit that my strong disapproval of many holistic meds and/or treatment methods may be preventing me from being objective. However, I have been involved in caring for (or helping care for) cats, dogs, horses and human kids since I was about 4 years old, and that would be over 70 years ago.
IMHO the main cause of your multiple cat problems may well be that you are forcing cats from diverse backgrounds to exist together in an enclosed space, and then in effect (which is to say, from their viewpoint) poisoning their only water supply.
Also, peeing on unwashed laundry is a classic feline reaction to change and stress. Especially by male cats. In other years various members of my family have had this happen, particularly when a "new" person comes into the household (as in the case of your son's return.) Even my own Q, a neutered, indoor only, very intelligent and domesticated male cat, will do this on occasion if his household is upset and/or his daily routines changed... and he is the sole feline here, with a litter box upstairs and another downstairs... but let circumstances get out of hand for me re cleaning these facilities for a couple days, or have family visit, and we'd better look out for any clothing or linens or whatever left lying around!
Please give what I say here some thought, won't you? Good luck to you.

So Sorry, Jason,
I was befuddled I guess becauseI couldn't get in to post as a member that I forgot the rules. Tried and tried and it didn't work.
Accept my apologies.

Re: Bach Flower Remedies
no problems, thanks for understanding.
Re: Bach Flower Remedies
Jason,
I just read most of the info in the disclaimers. Clicked on links and discovered that they were no longer available.
I see that arguing about issues isn't allowed, I see you don't condone alternative methods. Does that mean that even if we don't argue, we can't mention them?
Can you tell me what happened to my membership? I think the problem is the password,,,,,I can't remember.
Thanks,
Lynda

Lynda, your forum usernmame is leslks@aol.com ....you can click on the log-in button at top of forum and then click on "forgot my password", the database will send you a new one.
As for the disclaimers and the links you mentioned, which links exactly don't work for you?
As for alternative medicine, bach flowers falls into the category. Since they are basically homeopathic remediies, we don't suggest them. Homeopathy is essentially a 'claimed' herb or other particle, diluted with water several times, usually to the point where no actual property of the orginal molecule even exists (which therefore makes it hype and nonsense). However, bach flower remedies, particularly RR contains alcohol, another of which we do not recommend for pets, despite the small amounts.
Because there is no scientific evidence that can support their use, we will not recommend them, the hype usually is anecdotal evidence at best, which is not evidence-based-medicine.
