MALE CAT KEEPS ATTACKING OLDER FEMALE CAT
MALE CAT KEEPS ATTACKING OLDER FEMALE CAT
I just got a new male cat & I had him since Dec. '03. I've tried everything to stop him from attacking my fiance's older cat (10 yrs old). When she walks around the house, he would jump on her back & bit her neck & once in a while, he would attack her while she's sleeping. We had to lock him in bedroom every night when we go to bed. We've used water bottle-spray, pennies in soda can & baby's lock gate to keep them separate. None of them works! They both are declawed & fixed! What's wrong with Jingle (my male cat)? I don't want to give him up. But most of times, he's cute & lovable! [/b]

When was his last vet visit? Might want to get him examined to rule out any potential health problems.
It sounds like he may also be bored to some extent. Do you provide him lots of toys, scratching posts, kitty perches, etc? Do you spend a reasonable amount of time encouraging playtime, exercise, and one-on-one activities with him?

Hi, Traci!
Jingle has been checked over in January (I adopted him in Dec.) & I want to have him checked to be safe. The doctor said he is perfectly healthy & but he was aggressive towards them. His appt with vet is in Oct.
I played with him plently of times & I'm home all day. I always buying him new toys & my fiance thinks I'm crazy for buying him a cat furniture (it cost $120). But he loves it & sleeps in it at nighttime. My fiance thinks I'm spoiling him. He called him "Mama's boy" because he's easily afraid of everything including storm, men, strangers & loud 18 wheelers passed our house.
But we think he is jealous of her & didn't want us to give her any attention. So he does that to get our attention. I treat both of them fair & buying them whatever they love the most.

Here is something that may be useful....it's never too late to re-introduce the cats if you feel it may be necessary:
Feline Introductions
Within that page is another link called Feline Introductions that details methods you can try to get the two cats associated together, tolerant of each other, etc. Don't give up, sometimes it just takes patience and time. The sooner you start though, the better the outcome.
