Can anyone help me identify my dog's "breed"?

Post by LinZ »

We've had our dog, Nikki, for about 4 years now and I still have no clue what kind of dog she is.

My mom picked her up off the street and brought her home one night and we've had her ever since. One thing is for sure, though - she isn't a Heinz 57 kind of dog with a bunch of muddled colors...she's all white and kind of fluffy, has pointed ears and a curly, fluffy tail like a husky. I've heard people say she's a chow mix, but I'm not sure.

Any dog breeders in the house??

from the decription, Nikki could be a Samoyed ( see link ). If so, she is aptly named since this sled dog originated in Siberia. I have a friend who had a Sammy - they're great dogs.

Samoyed definitely fits the description if she is a large dog. If smaller, probably an American Eskimo Dog ("Eskie") or a Japanese Spitz. If she has a black tongue, she may be a chow mix. If not, probably no Chow in her.

No black tongue, but she looks very much like the Samoyed from jdf's enclosed link - one of the photos in particular looks exactly like her, but some of the other dogs look a bit too poofy.

Curses I wish I had a picture of her.

But thanks for your help, guys. I appreciate it.
