wonder dust
wonder dust
A friend had a collie with a bald area on the inside of his back leg, above the hock. He was licking it and aggravating the area. There was no sign of an injury or bite. I put on some wonderdust, and it stopped the licking. The skin has improved a lot in the 24 hours since. Is wonder dust a problem for dogs? I keep it around for other animals. She will be soon able to get to a vet.
Re: wonder dust
I don't think it's labeled for use in pets (dogs or cats), check with your vet about the compounds in it.
If this is a lick granuloma and it has been persistent, don't wait to get your dog seen by your vet promptly.

Re: wonder dust
I know I've seen several posts over the years from people who used this product onl their dogs. All seemed to like it, and I don't recall any reactions or bad outcomes. That said, however, I haven't used it myself, and I agree with Traci, best to check with your vet. The MSDS sheet jdf posted didn't give much info as far as toxicity if the dog licks that affected area.

The container lists the ingredients::
iodoform 2 percent
potassium alum 5
flowers of sulphur 2
tannic acid 2
activated charcoal 5
copper sulphate 13
hyrated lime 71
The dog has left the area alone, and it is healing.

Re: wonder dust
Sounds like a mixture of some proven antimicrobial agents. I think your experience agrees with those of the others whose posts I've read in the past. I think this comes under "don't argue with success"!
